Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Hiring a skip for the first time can seem daunting, but we’re here to make the process straightforward and hassle-free. Below, we’ve compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions about our skip hire services. If you don’t find the answer you’re looking for, please feel free to contact us. And remember, for safety reasons, skips must not be filled above the top edge.

Choosing the right size skip is crucial for efficient waste disposal. We offer a range of skip sizes to accommodate different projects. For guidance on selecting the appropriate size, please refer to our [Skip Size Guide] which outlines available sizes and typical uses. If you need further assistance, our team is always ready to help.

Certain hazardous materials cannot be disposed of in our skips. These include, but are not limited to, asbestos, fridges, freezers, TVs, batteries, oils, paints, solvents, tyres, gas bottles, and mattresses. If you need to dispose of such items or have questions about other materials, please contact us for advice.

Items we CAN accept in the skip include:
  • Household and commercial waste
  • Garden waste
  • Soil and hardcore

We can also take fridges/freezers, mattresses, Pops Waste, tyres and fire extinguishers *, but these are individually chargeable items.

Items we CANNOT accept in the skip are:

  • Clinical or medical waste
  • Dangerous chemicals
  • Flares or fireworks
  • Gas cylinders
  • Unwashed chemical containers

For safety and transportation reasons, skips must be level loaded. This means they should not be filled above the top edge. Overfilling a skip can pose a risk during transport and may result in additional charges or the need for waste to be removed.

Skips can be placed almost anywhere on private property, provided the lorry can access the area. Our lorries are approximately 10 feet (3 metres) wide and require a reasonably firm base to load and unload the skip. If the skip needs to be placed on the road, sufficient space is needed for the lorry to park and drop the skip directly behind it.

A permit is required if the skip is to be placed on public land, such as a road or pavement. If obtaining a permit is not feasible and no private land is available, we offer a convenient Wait & Load service, which eliminates the need for a permit.

We aim to deliver skips as quickly as possible, typically within 5 hours of your order, subject to permit approval where necessary. Our team works efficiently to meet your requirements and ensure timely delivery.
